New Beginnings

Coming soon - new API events website

Australian Property Institute (API) members are one step closer to enjoying the benefits of a specially designed events website, with API staff training to set to start next month.

The event website will allow members to search, register and pay for events online, creating access to API events 24 hours a day. Importantly, the streamlined process will deliver significant cost savings to the Institute, freeing up more money to enrich and expand the API’s events program.

Members can manage and track their annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, with a reminder service letting them know how many CPD points they have to complete before the end of each year. They can go back and recall their events for the past 12 months, or plan events for the next 12 months. The calendar of upcoming CPD events will also permit members to search for events anywhere in Australia, not just in their state.

One of the most notable features is the link to social media (Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin). The website links directly into social media, making it even easier to register and be reminded of upcoming events. There will also be a ‘wish list’ where events can be tagged as, ‘I am Interested in this event’. Members can register later when they have time, or be notified of similar upcoming events.

A national roll-out of the website, an API National Office initiative, is contingent on the success of a ‘test event’ launch date, which is earmarked for March.

API Chief Information Office (CIO) Joel Leslie said significant cost savings would be generated by the substantial reduction in hours spent registering and processing members for events.

“This allows the API to invest in other areas of the business and not waste large amounts of time registering each member, one at a time. The events website will also provide the API with more concise reporting.” Mr Leslie said.

“Additionally, popular events can be more easily identified, resulting in the API being able to provide more of these types of events.”

“The development of the events website is another example of the API National Office delivering real benefit to members,” Mr Leslie said.
