James Pledge awarded Life Fellow

The API welcomes James Pledge as its new Life Fellow.

James Pledge, Managing Director of Knight Frank Valuation (SA), has been inaugurated as a Life Fellow of the Australian Property Institute.

API State President, Tracy Gornall, said Mr Pledge had made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of the Institute and the property profession as a whole.

“He was elected National President of the API in May 2008 and is one of only 11 South Australians to hold the position since the Institute was founded in 1926. He fulfilled many demanding national roles, serving on National Executive, National Finance Board, International Valuation Standards Committee and various subcommittees,” Ms Gornall said.

Mr Pledge held the position of Vice President of the South Australian Division between 2006 and 2010 and was South Australian Divisional Representative to the National Professional Board in 2006, and to National Council between 2007 and 2011.

Ms Gornall said that during this time he worked tirelessly for the profession and played an important role in the mentoring of younger property professionals.

Mr Pledge was gracious in his acceptance of the award, saying that he had received far more from his time with the API than he had given. He talked of the strong friendships he had formed and of the great satisfaction gained in seeing the Institute develop and grow.

He went on to say that the opportunity to influence the profession in just a small way has been extremely rewarding.

“I’m honoured that the SA Division and National Council have recognised my contribution in this way. To be able to meet members from a diverse range of professions, learn about their day to day business lives, and in some cases build great friendships, has been a highlight.”
