New API National Professional Standards manager: Kevin Thompson

Kevin has gained a deep understanding of the property industry through his teaching career, his involvement with the API, and during his time as a valuer.

Kevin Thompson is the API’s new National Professional Standards manager. He is an Associate Member of the API and has been a member since 1990. He replaces Tony McNamara, who is retiring.

Kevin is a highly regarded academic with 20 years’ teaching experience. During this time, he has had two secondments as education manager with API NSW Division, and as a lecturer at the University of Technology, Sydney. He has continued to teach property and valuation subjects on a part-time basis. Most recently, Kevin worked on the development of a valuation degree course for Sydney TAFE, focused solely on valuation.

In addition to his wide-ranging experience, Kevin’s impressive academic qualifications include a Masters of Commerce, Graduate Diploma of Land Economy, Bachelor of Education, Diploma of Real Estate Management, Associate Diploma of Valuation, Diploma of Teaching and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

API Interim CEO Mike Zissler said that Kevin had gained a deep understanding of the industry through his teaching career and studies, his involvement with API, and during his time as a valuer.

“Kevin will join us in early January 2015. I am sure his expertise and experience will be an asset to the API. We look forward to his contributions,” Mr Zissler said.
