The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Committee organised several exciting events through mid-2014 that were well-attended.
In June, Mile Petrevski and Paul Powderly provided a contemporary insight into the risks and areas of opportunity in relation to GST and taxation, with a particular emphasis on residential property development.
This event was followed by the joint API and REI State of the Market breakfast in July. This is quickly becoming a key event on the API’s events calendar and this year’s function was held at Gandel Hall, in the National Gallery of Australia. The calibre of speakers, which included Senator the Hon Mathias Corman (Minister for Finance), John Runko (Independent Property Group) and Stephen Byron (Capital Airport Group), ensured the event was well supported with 170 attendees registered.
The API’s August event was hosted by the University of Canberra and included a presentation on the University’s Master Plan and growth strategy. Presenters included Professor Stephen Parker AO (Vice Chancellor), Joe Roff (CEO of the University of Canberra Union) and David Lamont (Project Advisor). The function concluded with a tour of the new headquarters for the ACT Brumbies, the $16 million Sporting Commons facility.
Preparing a Property for Sale – A guide to the due diligence process event was held in September. Presented by Alfonso Del Rio and sponsored by Clayton Utz, it was extremely well attended and considered to be a highly informative presentation for all property industry professionals.
The CPD Committee is committed to ensuring the 2014-15 calendar includes a wide variety of exciting events.
Upcoming events include:
