After a national recruitment process the Australian Property Institute has announced the appointment of Ms Eddie Blass as the National Manager – Education.
She will be joining the API team on Monday, November 9, 2015, working from the API's Adelaide office.
Eddie moved to Australia from the UK five years ago to join the Swinburne University of Technology as Professor of Leadership Development and Director of Postgraduate Education for the Faculty of Business and Enterprise. Prior to the move, she had a career in both Business Schools and a School of Education in the UK, including Ashridge Management College where she was the lead researcher on a project with the Chartered Management Institute on Talent Management.
Eddie’s research is very future-focused, looking at where an industry is going next and what needs to change to allow them to get there. Her doctorate from Durham University was entitled The Future University, and she has published numerous books, articles and conference papers on the topic, along with the ‘professionalism’ of teachers.
At Hertfordshire University, her focus was on the professional development of teachers and other professionals across industry sectors. She has spent the last three years working on the development of online education models, moving to us from Laureate Universities in Australia.
Having chaired accreditation committees, written numerous new programs for delivery, and having served on a number of Deanery and Senior Management teams in Universities, Eddie is moving on from academia to join the API to find new ways of combining her interests in ‘professionalising’ the workforce, increasing access and opportunity, promoting engaging online learning while making learning meaningful, relevant and appropriate to industry needs.
She brings a highly flexible approach to educational development and looks forward to engaging with the API membership at the first opportunity.
