Urbis appoints new CEO

Benjamin Pollack has almost 20 years experience in marketing, business development and strategic roles

Property consultancy firm, Urbis, has announced the appointment of Benjamin Pollack as its new chief executive officer, who stepped into the role February 1st.

Mr Pollack brings to the role more than 17 years’ experience in marketing, business development and strategic roles within professional services firms. Prior to his appointment, he was a member of PPB Advisory’s executive leadership team, as the head of strategy and client services.

His immediate priority as CEO will be to define Urbis’ 2020 strategy and further develop the potential of individuals, teams and the firm.

“It is a great privilege to take on the role of CEO for Urbis Australia. From the outset it was apparent that Urbis is a fantastic business with a palpable drive to deliver outstanding client outcomes. Great clients, a strong culture and exceptional people provide a solid foundation for the opportunities ahead,” said Mr Pollack.

In addition to appointing a new CEO, Urbis has also made a number of senior level appointments, including recruiting Sydney-based commercial property lawyer, Lisa Chung, as the company’s new non-executive director on the Urbis Board.

Chung has enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a partner of Blake Dawson (now Ashurst) and Maddocks. She also serves as a professional non-executive director and chair on Boards including APN Outdoor Group Limited, the Benevolent Society, and Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences - Powerhouse Museum in Sydney.

Andrew Yen has also been recruited as new director of the Sydney retail and valuations team. Urbis national director of valuations and real estate advisory, Matthew Cleary, said that the appointment is a great testament to Urbis’ continuing growth through its ability to attract key talent in senior roles.

“Andrew is an experienced retail specialist and has worked with a number of large national real estate agency practices. Importantly, he is well known to many of our existing clients with whom he already works.

“He also brings broader consultancy capability to Urbis, over and above his valuation skillset, and regularly provides rental and tenant negotiation advice as well as feasibility experience, which will further our service offer to clients,” Mr Cleary said.
